20 Free Envelope Mockups: DL, C4, C5, Kraft and Wax Seal
A good envelope mockup shows a client how their branding looks on the thing that actually lands on a desk or a doormat. We checked the free envelope mockups that are still live today and picked 20 that are worth downloading, from plain DL business envelopes to wax-sealed wedding invitations.
For each one you get what is in the scene, the file format, the size and licence where the source states them, and a link to the download page. They are grouped by use: business envelopes, sets with letterhead, invitations, and kraft, square and specialty envelopes.
How to choose an envelope mockup
- Size: match the envelope to the job. DL (110 × 220 mm) and US #10 are for business letters, C5 takes an A4 sheet folded once, C4 takes A4 flat, and square or A6 envelopes are for cards and invitations.
- Format: nearly every free envelope mockup is a PSD file. If you work in Figma, place your exported design in an online editor such as ls.graphics or Artboard Studio, or open the PSD in Photopea, which is free and runs in the browser.
- Smart objects: check that the front, the back and the flap each have their own smart object. Liners and stamps on separate layers are a bonus.
- Resolution: 3000 px wide is enough for a website or a portfolio. For print presentations or close crops, pick 4000 px or more.
- Licence: some files are free for commercial use, some only for personal use, and some ask for a link back. Read the licence before you use a mockup in paid client work.

Every download page below was live when we checked it. Some libraries send you on to the original designer to get the file, ask you to sign up, or email you the link, which is normal for free mockups.

Tips for presenting envelope designs
- Show the front and the back. The front carries the logo and address, the back carries the return address or a pattern. Use a front and back scene, or two mockups side by side.
- Use real content. Put a believable name, address and postage stamp on the envelope. Placeholder text makes the design look unfinished.
- Leave room for the post. Keep the address area and the top right corner clear for stamps and franking. A mockup that ignores this hides a problem the printer will find later.
- Present the full set. An envelope rarely travels alone. Pair it with a letterhead and a business card so the client sees one system.
- Check print details. Liners, foil and wax seals look great in a render but add cost. Agree on them with the client and the printer before you finalise the mockup.

Frequently asked questions
What is an envelope mockup?
It is a layered template, usually a Photoshop file, that shows a realistic envelope. You place your design in a smart object and the mockup adds the paper texture, folds, light and shadows, so a client can see the finished envelope before anything is printed.
Are these envelope mockups free for commercial use?
Most are, but not all. Files from Pixeden, Mr. Mockup, Graphic Pear, Free Mockup Zone and AlienValley are free for commercial use, Graphic Google asks for a link back, and the Pixelbuddha files are free for personal use only. Always check the licence on the download page.
What size is a DL envelope?
A DL envelope is 110 × 220 mm and holds an A4 sheet folded into thirds. In the US the closest match is the #10 envelope, which is 4 1/8 × 9 1/2 inches.
Can I edit an envelope mockup without Photoshop?
Yes. Photopea opens PSD files and smart objects in the browser for free, and libraries such as ls.graphics and Artboard Studio let you edit some envelope mockups online. Artboard Studio also works inside Figma through a plugin.
