20 Free Billboard Mockups (PSD and Figma)
A billboard mockup lets you show a client exactly how their campaign will look on the street before anyone pays for print or media space. A flat design on a white artboard rarely sells the idea. The same design on a roadside board, a bus shelter or a glowing LED screen usually does.
We went through the main free mockup libraries and picked 20 free billboard mockups worth downloading now: roadside and highway boards, city walls and rooftops, bus shelters, LED screens and night scenes. Most are PSD files with smart objects, and a few also come in Figma. Each one lists the format, size, licence and download link.
How to choose a billboard mockup
A good billboard mockup should help you and your client judge the design, not just decorate it. Check these points before you download:
- Format. PSD files with smart objects give the most realistic light and perspective. Figma files are quicker to update. No Photoshop? Use Photopea or an online editor.
- Ratio. Billboards range from portrait bus shelter posters to very wide rooftop banners. Pick a mockup that matches the real format, or the preview will mislead the client.
- Resolution. Aim for at least 3000 px on the long side, so you can crop in without blur.
- Licence. Free does not always mean free for client work. Several files below are for personal use only.

2. Roadside billboard in front of trees

A low, wide billboard sits on a grass verge in front of a line of trees, shot straight on in soft sunlight. The front-on view keeps your text free of distortion, so it suits copy-heavy layouts and ads for local businesses.

- Licence: Free for personal and commercial use

3. Standalone billboard set, three views

Three PSD files show the same pole-mounted billboard from the front and from both sides, on a plain pale blue background. With no street scene to compete, it works well in pitch decks and brand guidelines where the artwork should do all the talking.
- Format: 3 PSD files
- Size: 4000 × 2667 px
- Licence: Standard commercial use
- Source: Download on Good Mockups
4. Roadside billboard seen from below

A wide billboard on six heavy legs, shot from underneath against a blue sky with palm leaves and power lines at the edges. The low angle makes the board feel huge, which suits a hero image for a case study.

9. Billboard on top of a building

Tips for presenting a billboard design
- Design at the real ratio. A UK 48-sheet board is roughly 2:1, while a US bulletin (14 × 48 ft) is closer to 3.4:1. Set up your artboard at the final ratio first, then place it in the mockup.
- Keep the copy short. Drivers see a roadside board for a few seconds. One headline, one image and a clear logo beat a paragraph.
- Test it small. Zoom out to thumbnail size. If you can still read the headline and spot the brand, it will work from across the road.
- Check contrast in the scene. Light designs can vanish against a bright sky, and dark ones in a night scene.
- Show more than one setting. The same design on a roadside board, a bus shelter and an LED screen makes a campaign easier to approve.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I find a free billboard mockup?
Every mockup in this list is free to download. Good places to look for more are Mockups Design, Unblast, Good Mockups, Mockup World and GraphicBurger. Wannathis is the best free source if you need a billboard mockup in Figma.
Can I use a free billboard mockup for client work?
It depends on the licence. Files from Mockups Design, Good Mockups and GraphicBurger allow commercial use. The Wannathis freebies are for personal use only, and Graphic Google, Mockup Planet and Dribbble Graphics ask for a link back. Always check the download page before using a mockup in paid work.
What size should a billboard design be?
Ask the media owner or printer for their exact specification, because sizes and bleed vary by country and by site. Build the design at the right ratio from the start, and keep text and logos away from the edges of the board.
Do I need Photoshop to edit a PSD billboard mockup?
No. Photopea opens PSD files and smart objects in the browser for free. Mockups Design and Wannathis also let you place a design online or in Figma without opening Photoshop at all.
